DCALNI Reception for UWHU Successes

Sports Minister Edwin Poots hosted a special reception at Stormont on Wednesday 23rd May 2007 in honour of the fabulous successes achieved by the Ulster Interprovincial teams this year.

Players and officials from the four Interprovincial teams were in attendance in the magnificent settings at Parliament Buildings.

Ulster President, Edna Gribben said "Our interpro teams played all the other provinces in Ireland and this year for the first time we won all four trophies at U16, U18, U21 and Senior level. Many of our girls are now representing Ireland at various age groups.

I must give great credit to all the squad members and their management teams for all the training and hard work that enabled them to win all the trophies. Thanks also to all our teachers and coaches in both schools and clubs who work tirelessly to keep the standard of Ulster hockey so high.

Ulster had a very good year as we also won all three All Ireland competitions, The Royal School Armagh won the All Ireland Schools Cup and Pegasus Hockey Club won both the Irish Senior Cup and the All Ireland Club Championships."
